Ayur (life) - Veda (science or knowledge)
About 3000 years ago, in Vedic India, in a natural environment that supported all aspects of life, some sages (rishis) understood the principles by which health and well-being are created or destroyed. 2500 years ago they revealed Ayurveda from ayur (healthy life) and veda (knowledge), or the science of longevity. Ayurveda is the oldest known medical system and it is still widely practiced today.
Even though its roots lie in antiquity, Ayurveda is based on universal principles and is a body of knowledge that continues to live and grow, as useful today as it was in times past, so much so that in India alone there are 108 schools , which offer degrees after 5 years of study, and 300,000 members of the medical association. Furthermore, the current interest in the field of prevention and health promotion has pushed a growing number of Western doctors to study this medicine which offers a range of important complementary knowledge to allopathic medicine.
Given the growing number of Westerners who in recent years have preferred Ayurveda as a treatment system, numerous centers have developed in India that offer stays with Ayurvedic treatments ensuring comfort and excellent services. In ours centers you can experiment with individual treatments or undergo a complete cycle of therapies such as rejuvenation, purification, weight loss, stress management and other specific therapies suited to individual needs such as the treatment of psoriasis.
Ayurveda teaches that health is maintained by the balance of 3 subtle energies known as kapha, pitta and vata.
These energies are responsible for all forms of matter (kapha), the strength and direction in which it moves (vata) and the transformations they undergo (pitta). All Ayurvedic treatments are designed to bring these forces back into harmonious balance rather than focusing on the manifestation of their imbalance.
It therefore focuses on the causes rather than the symptoms and since the three forces are in a different relationship in each individual, Ayurvedic treatments are specific to the person rather than the disorder.
The primary objectives of Ayurveda are:
-Treat, control and eliminate the original causes of the disease.
-Prevent diseases
-Strengthen the immune system
-Build a stable, calm, positive and strong mind and emotion.
To achieve these objectives,
Ayurveda uses some tools:
-Herbal remedies based on herbs and minerals.
-Energy diet
-Lifestyle and daily habits
-Panchakarma therapy (removal of toxins, rebalancing of doshas (kapha pitta vata)
-Acupressure therapy of marma points (vital points)
-Relaxation and meditation techniques
-Yoga
